Third Olympics Three-time Olympian Nebyat Habtemariam participated in the marathon race on Sunday at the Beijing Olympics. Nebyat , Eritrea ’s only female marathon runner, performed well and had a great showing.
Nebyat came in at 47th with a time of 2:37:03. This is a great accomplishment as she only finished about 10 minutes behind the gold medalist. Of the 82 runners who started the race, only 69 completed the race.
This is Nebyat’s first time running the Marathon at the Olympics and only third marathon race ever. The marathon is a grueling 26.2 miles race and Nebyat is to be commended for having a great showing.
Nebyat is a mother and sets the highest standard for Eritrean female runners.
