Eritrea: Eid Al-Fetir celebrated in Dubai

Asmara, 1 October 2008 - Eid Al-Fetir was today celebrated in Dubai City through the collaboration of the Eritrean Ministry of Information and the Eritrean Consul General in Dubai.

In the celebration that was transmitted live via ERI-TV, thousands of Eritrean nationals participated. Speaking on the occasion, the Eritrean Consul General in Dubai and its environs, Mr. Yohannes Teklemichael, wished Happy Eid to followers of the Islamic faith and the entire Eritrean people.

He indicated that the Eritrean people have co-existed in peace and harmony for centuries through mutual respect. Stating that such a blessing of national unity rarely found in other countries have been reinforced in the struggle for independence, he pointed out that in Eritrea be it national or religious holidays are not an occasion of mere enjoyment but rather events which strengthen nationalism.

Mr. Yohannes went on to express appreciation to all those who made due contribution for the success of the celebrations. The Chairman of the Eritrean Community in Dubai and its environs on his part asserted that members of the Community would as ever enhance their contribution in support of national development endeavors, as well as in rebuffing anti-Eritrea conspiracies.
