Eritreans living in Virginia, USA, donated 120,000 Nakfa to people living with HIV/AIDS yesterday 30th October, 2008.
The money was collected by 45 PFDJ members Eritreans residing in Virginia, from sales of t-shirts, food and drinks during the 2006 and 2007 festivals and other occasions.
In 2006, these nationals came up with the idea of helping needy people in their homeland and met Ms. Abrehet Arefaine, Head of the PFDJ Foreign Zone. Ms. Abrehet suggested that they could help Eritreans living with HIV through the Bdho Association, an association of people living with HIV/AIDS.
The Virginia residents also take part in other activities pertaining to their country.
During the occasion at the PFDJ Central Office, three representatives from the Association thanked the PFDJ members for their noble gesture and called on other nationals to play their role.
The Association previously received similar donations from Eritreans residing in the UK, USA and other countries.
