Masawa is known for its extremely hot climate in the months of June, July and August. During these months, most of the residents of the city move to the highlands and the rest participate in less effort demanding jobs; but not the members of the Warsay-Yikealo Development Campaign. They constructed and completed an attractive recreation area in three months.
From July to September of this year, members of the Warsay-Yikealo Development Campaign in the Musa Ali Construction Company were busy building the recreation area called ‘Twalet Green Area’ at the port city of Masawa. This is part of the maximum efforts they are exerting in the development of tourism industry.
The city administration initiated the project and become practical because of the collaboration with Operation Zone 4, Naval Force, Sembel Metal and Wood Work and other government offices.
As in all development activities in the country, the community also played its role in making the project successful. They provided the members with food and drinks and moral support.
Regarding the dedication of the members of the Warsay-Yikealo Development Campaign, Ms. Fana Tesfamariam, Administrator of the city, said that all members of the campaign work in collaboration with other units who took part in the project. “It is the collaborative work that made the project successful in a short time,” she said.
The Twalet Green Area constructed at a cost of 6 million Nfa. was inaugurated on October 10, 2008 in the presence of religious leaders, military commanders, government officials, members of the Warsay-Yikealo Development Campaign and residents of the port city. Cultural troupe of the Operation Zone 04 entertained the members of the campaign at the occasion.
