China-Eritrea Film Week (2): An interview with Mr. Chen Chaoyang

The China-Eritrea Film Week is one of the three film festivals that take place in Asmara every year. The event is organized by The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China and the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the PFDJ. Mr. Chen Chaoyang is Attachè at the Chinese Embassy in Eritrea and has kindly accepted to answer a few questions on the purpose of the China-Eritrea Film Week.

Could you introduce us with the National Board of Higher Education and its activities?

The National Board of Higher Education is a body that monitors the activities of higher education in Eritrea. It has nine members. Until its official establishment, a Provisional Coordinating Committee for Higher Education is monitoring higher education in the country. And it is also playing a vital role in drafting the charter and the laws and regulations for all the colleges in the country. All deans in the colleges are members of the Board and it is chaired by the Director of the office of the President.

Q. Would you introduce your self and your job to shaebia.org clients?

A. My name is Saad Ramadan Said; I started my career as a teacher, before joining the NUEYS (National Union of Eritrean Youth and Students), as a coordinator of a number of youth projects, then became a manager of NUEYS projects department as well as Planning and Human Resources Department, before joining ESMG.

Alemseghed Ghebrekidan was born in 1971 and graduated in Urban Engineering from the College of Urban Planning in Addis Ababa in 1992. He also attended Masters in Housing and Inner City Revitalization from the Institute of Housing and Urban Development Studies in Rotterdam, The Netherlands and Lund University, Sweden in 2003.
