The development of Africa has been a key issue of almost every G8 summit agenda. World leaders have always called to increase aid, which the continent has received since the last 50 years; yet the African continent is worse than it was in these years.

The 13th Summit of Common Market for East and Southern Africa (COMESA) Heads of State and Government took place in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, from 7 to 8 June 2009. "Consolidating Regional Economic Integration through Value Addition, Trade and Food Security" was the theme of the Summit.

ABUSE OF THE INTERNATIONAL LEGAL REGIME

Recently I read a paper entitled “Prosecuting the main perpetrators of international crimes in Eritrea: Possibilities under international law” written by DR Mekonnen and JL Pretorius which alleges that a number of high-ranking Eritrean government officials have committed heinous violations of international law that amount to international core crimes.

Celebrating Independence

Artistic works that describe nationalism, unity, solidarity, comradeship, heroism… during and after independence played a decisive role in Eritrea. Usually, works of art brought Eritreans together to fight for their country. Above all, it enabled them to build clearly planned (imagined) communities.

Independence: a step in the march for liberation

It is clear that there are a number of challenges at global level at the present. Such challenges mainly influence African countries though they are not major actors in the world trade. The climate change and its consequences on agricultural production, the exploitation of natural resources, the changing lifestyle, migration etc. are the major causes for the challenges the world faces.

What I have put here as the title is what President Isaias Afwerki said in an interview with China Business Weekly Magazine in 2007, talking about Chinese and Eritrean relations and with particular reference to what Chinese investors see when they look at Eritrea.Indeed, Sino-Eritrean relationship goes far beyond what appears on the surface.

Time For UN Security Council To Invoke Chapter Seven Against Ethiopia

After protracted prevarication, Ethiopia has now formally and officially rejected the April 2002 border decision. In a letter to UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, dated September 19, Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles stated categorically that it was "unimaginable" for Ethiopia to accept the border decision.
