Lasting Memories of a Father-in-Arms
By: Tedros Abraham, Jun 19, 2009 - 2:59pm
Exactly ten years have gone by. My memories, however, are still fresh; they have lived with me for one third of my life. I consider those enduring memories of trying times as blessings, because they have kept all of my comrades-in-arms alive and by my side.

THE FALLEN HERO: Martyred yet Living
By: Tesfalem Habte, Jun 19, 2009 - 2:49pm
Have you ever tried to stop doing any thing and meditate for a while, asking your inner being if there exists any thing worth than giving your life for a noble cause? And, did you come to figure out the main reason as to why people go too far beyond, even to the extent of losing the sight of their individuality and become willing to sacrifice themselves to a group’s interests even if that sacrifice was their own life? Wow! What a noble determination! Then, is some one, who has given his life for his community’s sake said to be dead? Absolutely no!

Ethiopia- Deceptive Campaign to Whitewash and Cover up International Crimes in Somalia
Sophia Tesfamariam, Jun 18, 2009 - 9:37am
The minority mercenary regime in Ethiopia led by Meles Zenawi, the Bush Administration's “staunch ally” in the “war on terror”, finding itself in yet another self-created quagmire, has unleashed its loyal cadres, K-Street lobbyists and members of the Eritrean Quislings League to divert attention away from his lawlessness and belligerence, to white wash, downplay, and if possible, cover up its bloody tracks in Ethiopia and Somalia. Observers have described the childish and ignominious display by the regime’s cadres in New York as “disgraceful and embarrassing”.

ETHIOPIA: The Shameful AU-IGAD Collusion on Eritrea
Sophia Tesfmariam, Jun 9, 2009 - 6:07am
On 24 May 2009, Eritreans around the world were celebrating Eritrea’s 18th Independence Anniversary with grand carnivals, galas, festivals and more. Jubilant Eritreans were too engrossed to pay attention to other news, least of all news emanating from Africa’s sin city, Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia. The minority regime in Ethiopia led by the reckless and belligerent Meles Zenawi took this opportunity to launch yet another propaganda campaign against Eritrea. The desperate campaign to link Eritrea with Somalia, specifically the flow of illegal arms into Somalia, and the call for sanctions against Eritrea were echoed by the African Union and the Intergovernmental Authority for Development (IGAD). The regime and its partners are in a panic, the bloody trails lead right back to their own doorsteps.

Ethiopia never left Somalia-It was a deceptive charade
Sophia Tesfamariam, May 24, 2009 - 4:32am
The BBC and other media are reporting the “return of Ethiopian troops to Somalia”. How can they “return” when they never left? My sources, who served as advisors to Abdulahi Yusuf, leader of the Eldoret formed Transitional National Government of Somalia (TNG), tell me that Meles Zenawi’s forces never left Somalia. They may have left Mogadishu but they certainly did not leave Somalia. The Ethiopian regime has lied abut its presence in Somalia from day one. After denying its presence in Somalia in 2006, it was forced to admit that it had forces all over Somalia. Then it came up with a convenient lie and claimed that it was there at the invitation of Abdulahi Yusuf’s TNG. The media reported about the presence of 8000 Ethiopian troops. That too was a lie. There were over 25,000 Ethiopian troops in Somalia.

NASCENT ERITREA JOINS THE U.N: Witnessing the Birth of a Nation
Elias Amare Gebrezgheir, May 20, 2009 - 11:21pm
May has always been a special month to me. I was born in May -- just a little over three months shy of that historical date when the indomitable spirit of Awate rebelled against tyranny, and he took to the hills with his comrades and fired that first shot at Mt. Adal, heralding decades of strife and resistance. I fled into exile from the war raging in my country, trekking on foot and trucks for almost the entire month of May, across mountain territory and the desert into the neighboring Sudan. The 30-year war in Eritrea ended victoriously on May 24, 1991.

Dick Armey, Ethiopia’s Lobbyist Orchestrates Cyber Campaign Against President Barack Obama
Sophia Tesfamariam, Apr 28, 2009 - 5:12pm
President Barack Obama got a taste of what Eritreans around the world have had to deal with for the last 8 years- Astroturf campaigns-where digital media is used to generate “fake grassroots activity”. The recent campaign against President Obama was orchestrated by none other than Dick Armey, the former Republican Majority Leader who leads Freedom Works and who is known to both Eritreans and Ethiopians as the million dollar lobbyist for the minority regime in Ethiopia led by Meles Zenawi. Eritreans are also familiar with the various deceptive tactics and faux grassroots efforts orchestrated by the regime’s mercenaries.

SOMALIA: Wrong approach and throwing good money with the bad…again
Sophia Tesfamariam, Apr 24, 2009 - 1:13pm
UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon will be heading the upcoming Donor’s Conference on Somalia to be held in Brussels on 23 April 2009. The meeting, which is to be attended by EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana and the latest Somali President, Sheikh Sharif Ahmed, is said to be both “a policy and donors conference”. What about the other parts of Somalia, such as Somaliland and Punt land, are they also going to be represented at the Conference? Surely, they don’t recognize Sheikh Sharif as being their President too, or do they? The scars left form the Bush Administration’s dangerous and incoherent policies for Somalia are visible all over Somalia. The bloodshed continues and the humanitarian situation in Somalia has been exacerbated by the international community’s refusal to allow the people of Somalia to determine their own destiny.

A Journey of Four Years From Scratch to an Olympian!
Written by Essayas Fessahaye Narration: Yaried Asmerom , Apr 21, 2009 - 10:15am
My athletic career started on New Year in 2004. Four years later, I became an Olympic marathon runner in Beijing 2008. I am not afraid of dreaming big dreams. With my little experience, I set out to Beijing to stand on the podium with an Olympic medal. My technical errors in the last few kilometers did not allow this dream to come true, though. However, I comfortably stood 8th. It was all God’s will.
