The Government of Eritrea is always with the martyrs’ families to give them moral and financial support as freedom is the result of the martyrdom of their beloved ones.

Hywet Zeweldi Weldegergis, 82, has paid her beloved son in the struggle for independence. The government assists her financially as it does to all martyrs’ families by giving 500 Nfa monthly. She recieves the money every three months in order to decrease the ups and downs to go to the paying station as it was far for a woman of her age and as she is getting older. She used to walk half an hour to reach the paying station from her home.

But today the government opened a new paying station near her home and she is getting the money monthly. Thanks to the government.

The old woman always thanks her government and the Front for taking care of the martyrs families and war disabled. She also admires all the efforts the government is taking to keep its promises to the martyrs as well as the Warsay-Yikealo campaign.

“My government has given me 25,000 nfa in the past four years, I wonder how much has been paid to all the martyrs families,” said Hywet repeatedly.

The old woman is right. Investments differ one from another, investments on human resources, nation building, economic development and so on. But the investment on martyrs’ families who made freedom a reality has a different meaning. It gives mental satisfaction above all.

Martyrs’ families have to be always looked after in order to make them proud of their beloved ones. The government and the Front deserve praise for their deeds.
