A sculpture exhibition prepared in connection with Martyrs’ Day was presented for public display here in the capital at the premises of the Ministry of Education.
The work of sculpture, which shows the barbaric atrocities committed on innocent civilians during colonization, was inaugurated on Wednesday June 18, 2008 by the Minister of Education, Mr. Semere Russom. The Minister also laid a flower wreath on the location.
Ghidey Ghebremicahel, the artist who prepared the show, is preparing an exhibition of this kind for the sixth consecutive time. He disclosed that he tried to communicate a part of Eritrean history with what he does best: sculpting.
With its life-size model figures the exhibition was a breathtaking sight and attracted many passersby, particularly impressing foreigners.
In related news, in line with the Martyrs’ Day commemoration activities, a video show prepared by the PFDJ Bureau of Cultural Affairs was projected to the public in a big screen right next to the sculpture exhibition.
The video show, which narrates the story of three families that faced tragic losses during colonization, caught the attention of its viewers and earned their sympathy for the bereaved families.
