Generation: Interview With Dr. Abrehet Gebrekidan
Dr.
Abrehet Ghebrekidan is one of the experienced and dedicated medical
doctors in the armed struggle. She served as a doctor of obstetrics
for many years. Currently, she is a lecturer in the medical college,
of the university of Asmara. She's also a member of the Eritrean
National Assembly. An interview on her medical experience in
obstetrics in the field follows. This interview first appeared
in the National Union of Eritrea Women's (NUEW) official organ
"AG'EZO" March 2002 issue, originally published in

Abdella Adem
Forsakes Responsibility After Recall
Eritrea's Ambassador
to Sudan, Abdella Adem, has forsaken his post and responsibility.
His move comes two weeks after he was recalled to Asmara by the
country's Foreign Ministry. Abdella told his colleagues in the
Eritrean Embassy in Khartoum that he was driving to Eritrea but
then boarded a plane to Europe.

Authority Formed -- Four NGOs Asked to Terminate Operations in

Asmara, August 31 -- The Government of Eritrea has formed the
Eritrean Demining Authority (EDA) based on Proclamation 123/2002,
in order to expedite the removal of land mines long buried in
the country. ....these NGOs were wasting time by deploying in
areas where there are no landmines, and as, first and foremost,
their contract of operation has expired in June, they have been
given one month to terminate their operations in Eritrea, Brig.

Asmara, August 31 -- In a paper presented to a panel discussion
held in Germany under the title "Sudan at the Crossroads,"
Dr. Ahmed Dahli, Director of the Eritrean Strategic Studies Center,
highlighted the Eritrean stand regarding the Sudanese question,
which is based on strategic principles and profound historical
background as well as political, social, economic and cultural
ties among the states in the Horn of Africa. Dr. Dahli stressed

This is a summarized account of the Eritrean Festival
in Saskatoon. In the past our festival was carried out while
our country was defending against the invasion of Weyane under
the pretext of border dispute. This time our soldiers have thrown
out the enemy with an outstanding victory in the battlefield.
When Weyane could not achieve it goal in the battlefield, it
was forced to go to International Court as the government of
Eritrea had been telling them to do. Now Eritrea finds itself
victorious in battlefield and in International Court who vindicated
her claim.

The Ministry of public works has done a tremendous
job in the past ten years after independence to rehabilitate
a dilapidated sector. Its achievements include numerous projects
in road-building; the construction and renovation of dams, ports,
airports and other infrastructure tasks as well as comprehensive
and partial drafting of master plans for 69 major and medium-sized
cities, etc. Lt. Col. Khaled Aberra spoke with the Minister of

Tegadalai, Colonel Michael Fissehaye
When veteran tegadalai Colonel Michael Fissehaye passed away
on Tuesday, August 13, 2002, from a sudden illness at his home
at the age of 55, thousands of his bereaved former comrades and
friends immediately felt the huge void he left behind. He was
laid to rest on Thursday, 15 August, at Asmara's Patriots' Cemetery
with high honors appropriate to a hero, in the presence of President
Isaias Afwerki, government ministers and high ranking military
officials, and tens thousands of veteran fighters, relatives
and friends.

Veteran tegadalai Colonel Michael Fissehaye, who
passed away on Tuesday, August 13, was laid to rest on Thursday,
15 August, at Asmara's Patriots' Cemetery. His funeral was conducted
with high honors in the presence of President Isaias Afwerki,
veteran fighter Romadan Mehamednur, PFDJ general secretary Alamin
Mohammed Said, Minister of Defense, General Sibhat Efrem, other
Cabinet Ministers, members of EDF, thousands of veteran fighters,
relatives and friends.
